Aajeevika — Mothers' Self-Help Groups

Seed capital and bookkeeping training for 24 women-led savings collectives in rural UP, so the next school fee does not have to be borrowed from a moneylender.

When a daughter stays in school, a mother is usually the one who fought for it. Aajeevika makes that fight survivable.

We seed each self-help group with ₹40,000 and six months of weekly bookkeeping training. After a year, groups are running their own credit lines at 1.5% / month — a fifth of what local lenders charge.

Forty groups are running today. Eighteen more are waiting on funding.
